Dr. Candice Jimmyns is a Health and Counseling Psychologist who graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a PhD in 2018, completed a 3 year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Psychology in 2021 and has 5 publications in peer-reviewed Psychology journals. She deeply cares about her clients' needs and missed opportunities and aims to make their lives sweeter by helping them focus on their challenges and solutions to assist them in attaining a better and healthier future:)

COUPLE'S COUNSELLING

CHILD/ADOLESCENT/TEEN COUNSELLING
Counseling with children, adolescents and teenagers requires developing a close rapport and a bond of trust. The child/teen will need to learn that they can trust me first. Caregivers are welcome at sessions with children aged under 12 years. They are very involved in assisting children aged 2-7 years. Sessions involving adolescents aged 12 and above may not be attended by caregivers, unless otherwise requested by the child. I will provide guidance and give the adolescent/teen agency. This is important for entrusting me as their confidant, their identity formation, developing optimal and ethical decision-making skills, and responsibility. It is important to remember that therapy assists children/teens with developing coping skills for areas they require help in, and that this takes time... HEALTH BEHAVIOUR CHANGE THERAPY
Whether it is weight loss, quitting smoking, gambling/drug/alcohol abuse/domestic violence/anger management etc.; therapy at Candied Counseling can help you overcome the barriers to the positive behaviour change you wish to make and be able to create and action positive and sustainable healthy behaviours in their place. EMPLOYEE WELLNESS
Sessions can be arranged for the duration required and to take place at the location required. I can conduct training workshops or one-on-one or group therapy/negotiation/conflict resolution mediation with the involved employees. I know the importance of working in a healthy work environment firsthand. I have worked in a number of places & the environment needs to be a good fit & promote health & wellbeing. High staff turnover, excessive escalations, inadequate training but expectations, mis-communications between colleagues & management, feeling unappreciated financially & through no promotions, excessive work & deadlines but no understanding & being told to prioritize deliverables when everything is urgent, unnecessary micro-management, no or excessive delegation by managers, no allowance for a work-life balance, employees giving each other responsibility for their own work etc. leads to unhappy, emotionally upset & physically ill employees & management. I can make suggestions based on theoretically framed and empirically based psychoeducational content/therapy/counselling which is tailored to their needs and missed opportunities. I will use situation analysis and tailor it to fit your companies' needs and context, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. PSYCHOLOGY TEACHING/RESEARCH THESIS SUPERVISION SUPPORT
I have been a Psychology lecturer for 5 years and have supervised 27 postgraduate students for their theses at the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a 100% pass rate upon their first submission. I can assist with one-on-one remote or face-to-face sessions on any Psychology topic including Counselling, Psychotherapies, Health Promotion and Research Psychology as well as the subject we all dread... statistics and SPSS!
